This is the quick setup guide for installing WhatsApp for Business.

Prerequisites

You should already have a separate number active in your Teams' Calls tab as below for you to use when setting up WhatsApp for Business:

Set Up

1. To install WhatsApp for Business (separate from your normal WhatsApp if you have it), you will have to install the App on your phone, through the Intune Company Portal application. Please follow these steps in the below article in installing the portal app on your phone if you have not already:

2. Once you have the company portal app installed, navigate to 'Apps' within Intune. There, WhatsApp for Business can be found and installed. Once opened, go through setup steps and use your Microsoft Teams number.

Verification Steps

1. When you have successfully added your number, it should ask for verification. Teams is unable to process SMS verification - to work around this, tap 'Didn't receive code?'

2. The options should now include voice verification. It may ask you to wait 1 hour - please do not close the app, wait the hour and be available on Teams. Once you request the call, please have the dialpad open and ready on the Teams call.

3. It will ask you to press a number to receive your code. Listen carefully to the code and write it down/input the numbers on WhatsApp. If this fails or the call cuts off, the next voice verification will be a shorter wait time. You can try again after 5 minutes instead of the hour.

6. Once done, the app will ask you to fill in company details such as your name, business hours etc, which are fairly straight forward. Please check with your Team lead if you need additional information.

If you encounter any issues, please put in a ticket with IT.
