Greenshot is a user friendly, open source screenshot tool with more capabilities than Snipping Tool.
Setup
1. Open Greenshot
2. Right Click the app in the system tray > Preferences
3. Set Greenshot as your default app for screenshots by clicking the Capture region field, and pressing the 'Prnt Scrn' button to set the macro.
Using Greenshot
Once set, you can press the Prnt Scrn button to capture a region. The below screen shot displays features when you
1. The capture region in green is what will be captured.
2. The pixel capture dial shows the capture corner to the exact pixel for precision
3. A drop-down menu will appear where you can
- Save the image to downloads
- Open in Image editor (Recommended, see below)
- Copy the image directly
- Open in Microsoft apps
- Open in other downloaded apps.
Using the Image editor
As you can see in the previous screenshots, there are features such as coloured boxes, arrows and highlighting for emphasis.
