Multi-Factor Authentication is a default security system in Scott Dunn - Microsoft 365 systems.
What does Multi Factor Authentication means?. It means user needs password and an additional security method to authenticate.
- Mobile Phone number for text/calls (to send authentication code or make a call with authentication confirmation prompt)
- Microsoft Authenticator App (to send push authentication notifciation or generate authentication code)
- Personal Email Address (to send authentication code)
You to register Mutli Factor Authentication on Microsoft Authenticator App and register your mobile number (at least).
Microsoft Authenticator App is a mobile application available for download on iPhones and Androids.

Register or update your security information - while you are in Scott Dunn office
You must process this registration steps on your company's laptop while you are in the office (if you are outside the office please check the next section of this guide)
Once the application is installed, go to your Office 365 account on the chrome web browser.
You can access it through this direct link: https://portal.office.com/account
Alternatively, accessed by clicking on your name in the top right corner of the Office 365 Home Page, and selecting “Account”.
- From there, Go to Security Info (shown below):
2. From here, select ”Add Method"
3. Download the Authenticator App, and Select 'Authenticator App' on the options shown below
4. Use the Application to Scan the QR Code prompted by the Web Browser.
Add Account > Work/School Account > Scan QR Code/Or Enter Code Manually
Uses of Authentication/Two-Factor Method:
You will need to use codes from the Microsoft Authenticator Application for:
- VPN connections.
- Making Changes to your Email Account.
- If you login to Office 365 outside of Company Networks.
- Editing Information on your Office365 Account.
Register or update your security information - while you are outside the office.
If you are outside any Scott Dunn office and you will try to register MFA device. You will go to your account and security info, you will receive this error message:
Please contact IT support team to receive a one time access pass which will allow you to register/update MFA device.
Once member of IT team will provide you this one time access pass, please go to your account again (you will be asked to authenticate with this pass code)
