There are two locations where Office applications save recoverable & unsaved documents.
Both of them you can locate by checking your Save options settings and these apply to Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other Office 365 documents.
First of all, in an application click, File, in the top left corner:
From the menu on your left pane of the window, go to Options
Again on the left there will be an Option called Save, click on it
You will see two paths, one for Auto Recovery location, another Default file location.
Of course each location is unique to the user profile on a computer, hence DorianO username in the example above.
Yours will be same or similar location with your username.
Also Word is just the name of application, it may just as well be Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote etc.
Now, select the path and copy it (do not click Browse.. button). Open File Explorer or This PC and paste it to find the location
If the location indeed has some files, they may not come up with the same name (but close to it) and may include some extra symbols. To help finding the right file, it's recommended to look at the date and time as well
The files are saved in .asd format, which stands for AutoSaved, so they cannot be directly open by Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc. as they all share the same file extension format.
To open these files the most reliable way is to open it via the application itself. File -> Open -> navigate to the location (copy paste as above).
If the files you are looking are still not available , please raise a ticket with IT support so they can help to resolve it
